
Priamo Drives Spirit to Victory with two goals and three assists

(Saginaw, MI) Spirit forward Jack Combs started off scoring at 1:14 in the first period off of an assist from Chris Chappell and Tim Priamo. Patrick Asselin, assisted by Nick Crawford and Ryan Berard, gave the Spirit a 2-0 lead halfway through the first period at the 10 minute mark.
The game remained 2-0 until 6:45 into the second period, when Asselin got the puck past the goaltender for his second goal of the game. Berard and Combs assisted on the goal. Combs followed up with a goal at 14:57 in the second period, stretching the Spirit lead to 4-0. Chappell assisted on the goal. Less than 30 seconds later Priamo scored off of an assist from Combs and Chappell.
T.J. Brodie started off the third period with a goal that was assisted by Priamo and Chappell. Minutes later, Priamo scored yet again off of an assist by Jack Combs. Tomas Zaborsky (NYR) expanded the Spirit lead to 8-0 with a shorthanded unassisted goal. Spirit forward Kevin Tuckey extended the Spirit lead by two goals, with a goal assisted by Zaborsky at 17:20 in the third, and another at 18:05 in the third assisted by Zaborsky and defenseman Andrew Clouthier
Jovica Zelenbaba stood in the pipes for the Spirit, accumulating 8 saves in the effort.
Despite the uneven score, Team Mexico accounted for themselves well with good, solid play. The Mexico squad accumulated only six minutes worth of penalties and had 9 successful penalty kills. Mexico goaltenders Alfonso De Alba and Andres De La Garma had an accumulated total of 47 saves in the game. Team Mexico returns home Monday.
