OKC Energy FC News Release

OKC Energy FC (7-2-3) has won five USL matches in a row and has one loss in its last nine (7-1-1), a 4-1 defeat at the hands of MLS side FC Dallas in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup last Tuesday in Ft. Worth. In Tuesday's match, OKC forward Danni König scored Energy FC's lone goal in the 82nd minute of play to extend his goal streak to three games and current point streak to four. OKC goal keeper Evan Newton surrendered a season-high four goals in Tuesday's loss, end- ing a five-game shutout streak. Newton does currently hold a four-game streak of clean sheets in USL play. OKC is currently in first place in the USL's Western Conference, holding a one point lead over the second place Seattle Sounders FC 2 and a two point lead over third place Sacramento.

Sacramento Rebublic FC (7-6-1) enters play off a 2-1 win over Arizona United SC last Saturday in Scottsdale, Ariz. Republic's win over Arizona was the club's first in in four matches (1-2-1) dating back to the club's May 23 matchup against Oklahoma City. Sacramento's Rodrigo Lopez is cur- rently fourth in the USL in overall points (17). Republic goal keeper Patrick McLain ranks fifth in the USL in saves and is tied for third with OKC keeper Evan Newton in shutouts (4).

With a win Saturday, Energy FC would retain control of the Western Conference's top spot. An OKC loss would give Sacramento a one point lead over Energy FC and give Republic possession of first place with a Seattle loss on Saturday against Arizona.
