Last Time Out

Nashville SC dropped a tough road match 2-1 at Louisville City FC back on Saturday, July 6. Daniel Ríos opened the scoring in the 11' minute with a sizzling shot towards the back post that ricocheted in. Louisville had the chance to equalize before halftime, but a penalty attempt sailed high over the bar. In the second half, Louisville City FC dominated on the ball, finding an equalizer off of a set piece and then a winner on a quick counterattack. The loss marked the first time Nashville SC has lost two matches in a row this season.

Scouting Memphis 901 FC

Memphis 901 FC has struggled through much of its inaugural season. The club has just two wins since the beginning of April, and recently earned its first home win of the season with a 4-1 effort against Hartford Athletic. The club currently sits in 15th place in the USL Championship standings and is nine points out of a playoff spot. The club is one of the better sides in the Eastern Conference in terms of limiting goals conceded, yet is third-worst in the conference in scoring with just 16 goals scored this season.

Storylines to Watch

Welcome Jimmy Ockford

Nashville SC acquired defender Jimmy Ockford on a short-term loan from MLS' San Jose Earthquakes ahead of Wednesday's match. He will be available for selection for the match and could help bolster Nashville SC's back line. In its last three matches, Nashville has given up a total of six goals. Ockford has experience at both the MLS and USL Championship levels, so he could be an important boost to the back line.

Ríos' Rampant Run

Forward Daniel Ríos has been a workhorse on offense for Nashville SC this season and finds himself right in the thick of things for the league's Golden Boot. Going into Wednesday's match, Ríos is tied for second on the USL Championship scoring list with 11 goals, only trailing Phoenix Rising FC's Solomon Asante, who has 12. Ríos added to his goal total against Louisville City FC with a goal that earned him a spot on that night's SportsCenter Top 10.

Bounce-Back Opportunity

This will be a big opportunity for Nashville SC to get back in the win column after two consecutive losses. In the club's history, it has never lost more than two matches in a row in league play. Nashville can avoid that fate on Wednesday with a win or a draw. This is just the second time in the club's history that it has lost two consecutive league matches, with both losing streaks coming in mid-July 2018 and 2019.
