Nashville SC Acquires Defender Jimmy Ockford from SJ Earthquakes on Short-Term Loan

NASHVILLE - Nashville Soccer Club announced on Monday, July 15 that it has acquired defender Jimmy Ockford from MLS' San Jose Earthquakes on a short-term loan. He will be available for selection ahead of this Wednesday's match away at Memphis 901 FC.

Ockford made 15 appearances for the Earthquakes last season, starting in 11 matches and playing 1085 minutes. Prior to 2018, he played for San Jose's USL affiliate, Reno 1868 FC, making 31 starts and leading the team in minutes played. Ockford helped the expansion side reach the USL Cup Playoffs in 2017. He played alongside current Nashville SC midfielder Matt LaGrassa in Reno.

He was drafted by Seattle Sounders FC in 2014 and made one MLS regular season appearance for the club. He spent time on loan with New York Cosmos and Seattle Sounders FC 2.

The 27-year-old is a native of Yardley, Pennsylvania. He began his college career at Mount St. Mary's University where he played as a forward for three seasons before the program was cut by the university. Ockford transferred to the University of Louisville for his senior season, where he became a defender and excelled at the position. He made 20 appearances, tallied four goals and helped the team earn nine clean sheets. He was named AAC Defender of the Year for his efforts.
