Preview: Energy FC vs. La Galaxy II - August 4
August 3, 2015 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
OKC Energy FC News Release
OKC Energy FC (8-5-7) takes on LA Galaxy II (11-6-3) in the make-up of a May 9 match that was postponed due to a threat of inclement weather. The match is the second in five days for both clubs.
OKC is coming off its most convincing victory of the season, a 3-0 win over Arizona United SC last Friday that saw two goals from forward Danni Konig and another from midfielder Gareth Evans. The win was Energy FC's first in eight games, ending a seven-game winless streak and four-game streak of draws. Because of the four-game tie streak, OKC is unbeaten in five games.
Konig is tied for the USL lead in goals (16) and has recorded eleven goals in Energy FC's last ten games, including a streak of seven straight team goals from June 27 to July 31.
Galaxy II comes in off a 2-0 loss to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC last Friday, the club's fourth shutout loss of the season. Since tying with OKC on July 5, LA is 2-1-1.
Ariel Lassiter leads Galaxy II with nine goals and 19 points, while Clement Diop has led LA goal keepers with a record of 8-5-3 and 1.06 goals-against average.
LA ranks fourth in the USL in shots (250) and goals-against average (1.08), and second in shutouts (7), assists (28) and assists per game (1.40).
Tuesday night's match marks the second and final meeting of the season between the two clubs who faced off four times in 2014, with LA winning all four.
