Positives to Build On

No team wants to lose, but that doesn't mean positives are not anywhere to be found. As Austin Bold FC Head Coach Marcelo Serrano said, "When you lose, it doesn't mean everything is wrong."

Thirty Seconds

30 seconds. That's all it took Bold newcomer Nick Hinds to nab his first goal with the club and properly introduce himself to The Bold Familia. The technical fullback came on as a half-time substitute and immediately impacted with a fantastic shot from just inside the box.

Hinds joins The Bold on loan from MLS club Nashville SC. Even at his young age, Hinds has deep USL Championship experience as he made 68 appearances with Tacoma Defiance while under a Homegrown contract with Seattle Sounders. The South Florida native knows how to win too. During his two seasons playing collegiately with the University of Akron, Hinds helped the Zips to back-to-back conference championships

Changes in Utah

The Real Monarchs and Real Salt Lake changed their relationship coming into the 2021 USL Championship season. The affiliate club operated as both a developmental squad for the MLS club in prior seasons while still being an incredibly competitive side within the USL Championship. This hybrid approach saw the team lift the league championship in 2019 and win the USL regular season in 2017. This season, the club publicly shifted its philosophy to more developmental. This doesn't mean they are pushovers by any degree. This squad is stacked with Utah talent like Bode Davis and international signings like Ibrahim Bance. The front office also brought in players with USL Championship experience like Kyle Adams and Malik Johnson. With only a single point in three matches, head coach Jamison Olave will hope this new change will soon produce results on the pitch.
