Preview - Bees Open Series on Road against Barnstormers

In 140 Characters or Less: The Bees hit the road to take on the Lancaster Barnstormers tonight! First pitch 7 PM!

Series: Tonight's game will mark the first time the Bees and Barnstormers face off. The teams will play two more games this weekend after tonight: Saturday at 7 PM and Sunday at 2 PM.

The Bees: After struggling to begin the season, outfielder Jon Jones has stepped up his production of late. Jones is hitting .500 over his last four games (6-12) with two stolen bases

The Opposition: Lancaster, which will be hosting the league All-Star Game this season, currently sits in third in the Freedom Division at 5-9. The Barnstormers enter tonight with the second best team batting average in the league (.288) but also with the second worst ERA (5.19).

Key to the Game- Bond. Team Bond: After playing each of the first four series of the season in Connecticut (three at home, one in Bridgeport) the Bees are hitting the road for their first extended road trip of the season. This will give the team the chance to further build camaraderie, which will help the Bees as the season moves along.

Bees Buzz: By allowing just two runs total in yesterday's doubleheader, the Bees pitching staff now leads the league with a 2.38 ERA...Tonight's starter, Kyle Simon, is one of the reasons why the Bees' collective ERA is so impressive, posting a 1.80 ERA in ten innings. Simon also played for the Barnstormers in 2015...Despite having his hit streak snapped at ten games in game two of yesterday's doubleheader, Jovan Rosa has been one the league's hottest hitters, posting a .333 average and .424 on-base percentage so far this season.
