Preliminary 2021 NHL Draft Watch List Loaded with Steel

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The NHL Central Scouting Preliminary Watch List, released Tuesday, includes eight players on the current Chicago Steel roster in addition to four players with ties to the club.

"We are grateful to have so many players, including the potential #1 pick (Power), recognized by NHL Central Scouting," said Steel General Manager Ryan Hardy. "It is a great source of pride for our franchise. That said, all of our players, including some of those not on the list, will determine their NHL futures by their play on the ice in the months and years to come."

The players listed by NHL Central Scouting on the current Steel roster are as follows:

'A' Rating - Mackie Samoskevich

Forward

5'11'' 189 lbs.

2019-2020 Stats: 47 GP, 34 Points (13G, 21A)

"Mackie Samoskevich is a dynamic, skilled forward that can create offense with his mind, with his hands, and with his speed. He also possesses a quick release on a heavy shot." - Steel GM Ryan Hardy

'B' Rating - Matt Coronato

Forward

5'10'' 183 lbs.

'C' Rating - Luca Fantilli

6'0'' 159 lbs.

"Luca Fantilli is a cerebral, puck moving defenseman with high-end poise." - Steel GM Ryan Hardy

'C' Rating - Lukas Gustafsson

'C' Rating - Sam Lipkin

6'3'' 196 lbs.

"Sam Lipkin is a big, versatile forward with the ability to use his assets to play a skilled game or a power game." - Steel GM Ryan Hardy

'C' Rating - Ryan Ufko

Defense

5'10'' 181 lbs.

2019-2020 Stats: 43 GP, 9 Points (2G, 7A)

"Ryan Ufko is an intelligent, competitive, right-shot defenseman who can control the game in all three zones with and without the puck. He has transformed his body physically over the last 18 months and will only continue to improve in that area throughout this season and beyond." - Steel GM Ryan Hardy

The Steel are coming off the heels of the most successful NHL Draft in franchise history with a total of eight players with Chicago ties selected on Oct. 6 & 7. Prior to the start of the 2019-2020 campaign, 10 players with Steel ties were listed on the NHL Central Scouting Watch List.

In total, the United States Hockey League has 31 current players named on the preliminary list.
