Orlando Predators News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. (Nov. 8) -- EDDIE FREEMAN, a former lineman with the Kansas City Chiefs, agreed to a one-year contract with the Orlando Predators on Thursday. Freeman, 6-5, 307-lbs., was selected in the second round of the NFL draft (43rd overall) by the Chiefs in 2002.
Freeman spent two years in the Chiefs organization, playing in 20 games. He recorded 32 total tackles with four quarterback sacks and two pass defenses. All four sacks came in his rookie season. He also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2004-05) and New England Patriots (2006).
A product of the University of Alabama-Birmingham, Freeman played in 44 games (40 starts) for the Blazers from 1998-2001. He recorded 184 tackles (107 solo) with 36 tackles-for-loss, 14 quarterback sacks, 15 pass defenses, three fumble recoveries and four forced fumbles.
"Eddie Freeman is a big, strong defensive player with NFL playing experience," Head Coach Jay Gruden said. "Under the new substitution rules, he could be an outstanding complement to Greg White and give us two outstanding pass rushers."
Freeman's signing gives the Predators 27 players under contract for the 2007 season.
