Predators Sign Two New Players
February 27, 2012 - Premier Basketball League (PBL)
Sauk Valley Predators News Release
The Sauk Valley Predators announce two new players to their organization, 6'4 guard Quin Humphrey, from Youngstown State and a 6'10 center named Reggie George, from Iowa State and Robert Morris University.
Quin was named a first-team All-Horizon League performer twice. Since joining the Division I ranks more than 25 years ago, no Penguin has accomplished that feat. Humphrey was one of the most productive players since that time as well. In his four seasons, he scored 1,707 points, grabbed 674 rebounds and had 253 assists. Overall he ranks eighth in scoring in school history and 10th in rebounding. Only one player has scored more points than Humphrey since the Penguin joined the Division I ranks while two have grabbed more rebounds.
Quin also finished his career as the school-record holder in minutes played (3,689) and games played (114), ranks second in starts (104), second in 3-point attempts (451), third in 3-pointers made (175), third in steals (137), third in free-throws made (370), fifth in free-throw attempts (492), eighth in blocked shots (46), eighth in field-goals made (586) and ninth in field-goal attempts (1,305). He tallied 17 career double-doubles, including six as a senior and 10 as a junior. He also had six 30-plus point performances.
Reggie George joined the Robert Morris University Eagles after two seasons with Big 12 conference member Iowa State, following a phenomenal prep career. His Junior AAU team won a national championship, and he played his high school ball at Alan B. Sheperd High School in Palos Heights, IL.
Reggie was clearly prepared for the NAIA as he cooly scored twenty points six times in the first eleven games he played for the Eagles. His low-post dominance last season earned him a NAIA All-American first team selection, as well as numerous other accolades, including CCAC first team honors and a spot on the NAIA National Tournament All-Star team. After a brief flirtation with the NBA draft Reggie decided to stay for another year, and the Eagles were certainly happy to have their big man back for another campaign. Coach Bruehl says: "Reggie is as good a pivot as the CCAC has ever seen. He poses real problems for our opponents, not just because of his size but because of his athleticism. You usually don't see big men with his foot speed."
The Sauk Valley Predators' next game is away on Sunday vs. the undefeated Central Illinois Drive in Bloomington. Individual and season tickets can be purchased online at www.saukvalleypredators.com. You can also view the other Predator players and full schedule.
