BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Bloomington PrairieThunder begins a four-game road swing over the next two weeks when it travels to second-place Kalamazoo for a 6:30 p.m. International Hockey League action Friday at Wings Stadium.
The PrairieThunder (10-20-1-0, 21 points) will be faing a Kalamazoo team that has won nine of its last 11. The Wings, who had a four-game winning streak snapped Thursday in a 2-0 loss at Flint, have a 21-11 record for 42 points.
The PrairieThunder has split three games with the Wings this season, but is winless in two games at Wings Stadium. Bloomington is 3-10 on the road, while Kalamazoo is 10-2 at home.
Bloomington continues its road swing Saturday with a 6:30 p.m. game at third-place Fort Wayne.
Leaders of the pack
Forward Jon Booras leads the PrairieThunder in scoring with 38 points (15 goals, 23 assists). He has two game-winning goals and is tied for the league lead in power play goals with eight. He has scored at least one point in 21 of the 30 games he has played.
Booras has scored 15 points over the last 11 games after suffering through a season-high three-game stretch without a point. He has scored more than one-point in 11 of 30 games. He also is the franchise leader in games played (177), goals scored (60), assists (74) and points (134).
Shaun Fisher is the team's top scorer among defensemen with 16 points (3 goals, 13 assists), while Adam Tomkow is the top scoring rookie with eight points (3 goals, 5 assists).
Number changes
Newcomer Henry Kuster, who was obtained in a trade with Muskegon earlier this week, makes his PrairieThunder debut Friday. Kuster had 29 points with Muskegon. He will wear No.17.
Rookie newcomer Mike Kusy has also been added to the roster and will wear No. 16.
Jan Jas has changed to No. 11 and Marty Standish has switched to No. 48.
Slapshots, etc.
Brett Holmberg has scored at least one point in 18 games and has scored 29 points in 29 games after netting 31 points in 76 games as a rookie.
Marty Standish has scored 10 points in the last 12 games and holds the record for the quickest goal scored to start a game (11 seconds) in franchise history.
Three times this season the PrairieThunder has scored a goal within the first 42 seconds of the game.
