BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Three goals and an assist by Jon Booras powered the Bloomington PrairieThunder to a 7-3 victory over Quad City in an International Hockey League action before 1,778 people Tuesday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The win moved the PrairieThunder record to 16-14-2-4 (38 points) and moved the team into sole possesion of fourth place in the standings. Bloomington returns to action Friday with a 6:30 p.m. game at Flint.

Defenseman Jason Lepine scored the game's first goal midway through the first period to give the PrairieThunder a lead it would never relinquish. He was assisted by Craig Macdonald and Booras on the power play.

Booras extended the Bloomington lead eight minutes later with an unassisted goal. Quad City cut the deficit in half midway through the second periofd on Obi Aduba's first of two goals on assists by Joel Gasper and Brandon Marino.

But the PrairieThunder answered 27 seconds later when Brett Holmberg scored on assists by Bill Bagron and Chase Watson. Booras then upped the lead to 4-1 five minutes later on a goal off a Lepine assist.

Quad City cut the deficit to 4-2 with two minutes left in the second period on a Marino goal off assists by Justin White and Patrick Levesque.

Booras scored his third goal 22 seconds into the third period on a short-handed effort with an assist by Justin Sawyer. Zac Pearson added to the Bloomington advantage with a goal midway through the period on assists by Mike Liambas and Watson.

Bagron then scored an empty-net, short-handed goal with 4:22 remaining on an assist by Matt Frick. Aduba completed the scoring with a Quad City goal with 31 seconds left.

Bloomington owned a 32-30 advantage in shots and was 1 for 5 on the power play. Quad City was 1for 6on the power play. Andrew Martin was the winning goalie, stopping 27 of 30 shots. Jerad Kaufmann took the loss in net for the Mallards.
