The Bloomington PrairieThunder scored a franchise record eight goals and set a team record for victories in a season with an 8-2 conquest of Muskegon before 2,952 people Friday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington in International Hockey League action.
Leo Thomas and Brett Holmberg each scored two goals, while Don Parsons added a goal and three assists. Kyle McCullough and Pascal Bedard each registered two assists as the PrairieThunder moved its record to 26-32-4-3. The team won 25 games last year.
Adam Edinger had a goal and an assist, while defensemen Rod Aldoff and Sam Miller each added goals. It was Miller's first goal in 64 games this season.
Jeremy Cornish, Blake Stewart and Jon Booras also had one assist. Loic Lacasse stopped 30 of 32 shots to earn the win. Bloomington was 4 for 8 on power plays and stopped all five of Muskegon's efforts.
The PrairieThunder returns to action Saturday with a 6:30 p.m. game at Kalamazoo.
Bloomington trails the Wings by six points in the standings and Muskegon by eight for the final postseason playoff berth.
