PrairieThunder to Stage Final Round of Country Idol
March 20, 2009 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Bloomington PrairieThunder News Release
The Bloomington PrairieThunder hockey team, in conjunction with the Illinois Country Music Association and B-104 FM, will stage the final round of the PrairieThunder Country Idol talent contest at Saturday's 7:05 p.m. International Hockey League game against Fort Wayne at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
In its first year, the PrairieThunder Country Idol contest tested the talents of six country music artists during the first intermission of three games. Mike Porter, Missy Vail and Stephanie Foster will compete for the inaugural title.
The finalists will compete during the first intermission. Fans will then have the opportunity to vote for their favorite performers through the second intermission. The fan vote counts 25 percent and judges vote 75 percent in determining which performer advances in the competition.
The overall winner of the event will receive five hours of recording studio production time, 30 professional marketing packets, a pool table, a PrairieThunder jersey, a two-year membership in the Illinois Country Music Association and two free registration fees in the Illinois Country Music Association.
The six competitors in the first event were all country music artists from the Midwest, who have recorded and released CDs, but have not been signed by a professional recording company. The contestants were chosen to compete in this year's contest by their peers from the Illinois Country Music Association.
The six will join together to sing the national anthem before the game and perform during a post-game concert.
