PrairieThunder loses to Fort Wayne

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - J.C. Ruid's power play goal with 6:47 remaining in yjr third period was the difference as the Fort Wayne Komets notched a 4-3 United Hockey League victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Wednesday night before 2,796 people.

The Western Conference victory moved leader Fort Wayne's record to 26-13-2. The loss dropped the PrairieThunder's mark to 12-28-2.

Ruid, the Komets' leading scorer, was assisted by Guy Dupuis and Matt Syroczynski. Bloomington took a 1-0 lead in the first period on an unassisted power play goal by Trevor Baker at the 13:59 mark.

The Komets tied the game with 11 seconds remaining in the first period on a Martin Gascon goal off assists by David Hukalo and Pascal Morency.

Fort Wayne took a short-lived 2-1 advantage in the second period on another Gascon goal on a power play with assists by Mario Larocque and Dupuis 1:56 into the period.

Jon Booras tied the game for the PrairieThunder with a power play goal off assists an assist from Mark Phoenow 6:42 into the period. Fort Wayne went back ahead on A.J. Bozolan's goal with assists from Ryan Jorde and Gascon at the 10:37 mark.

Bloomington's Tyler Rennette scored the game-tying goal off assists by Alex Goupil and Baker with 49 seconds remaining in the second period. Fort Wayne was 2 of 4 on power plays and Bloomington was 2 of 5.

The PrairieThunder returns to action Friday with a 7:05 p.m. game against UHL leader Muskegon at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
