FORT WAYNE, Ind. - David Hukalo and Sean O"Connor each scored two goals and added an assist to power the Fort Wayne Komets to a 5-1 victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder before a sellout crowd of 10,454 people Thursday night at War Memorial Coliseum in International Hockey League action.
The loss dropped the PrairieThunder record to 14-10-2-2 (32 points) ahead of Saturday's 7:05 p.m. game at the iwireless Center in Moline against the Quad City Mallards.
Fort Wayne scored four goals in the third period to break from a 1-1 deadlock. O'Connor scored two goals, while Hukalo and P.C. Drouin had the other goals. O'Connor and Drouin's goals came on power plays.
Hukalo gave the Komets a 1-0 lead with 13:22 remaining in the first period on a power play off a Brandon Warner assist. The PrairieThunder tied the game with 8:52 left in the first period on Craig Macdonald's power play on assists by Jason Lepine and Matt McIlvane.
Fort Wayne outshot the PrairirThunder, 41-25, with Andrew Martin taking the loss in net for Bloomington. Tim Haun was the winning goalie.
