Bloomington PrairieThunder News Release

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Bloomington PrairieThunder, which has won six of its last 10 games, finds itself in a must-win situation and at the mercy of Port Huron opponents if it wants to make the United Hockey League postseason playoffs.

The PrairieThunder, which has a 24-42-4 record and 52 points, must win its remaining six games beginning tonight with a 7:30 Western Conference game against Chicago at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates and Port Huron must lose its final six games without one of those losses being in a shootout.

Should that scenario take place (and Elmira loses two of its five remaining games), Bloomington and Port Huron would finish for the eighth and final spot with 62 points. The PrairieThunder would then earn the No. 8 seed in the playoffs based on total wins. Bloomington would finish with 30 victories and Port Huron 28.

The PrairieThunder has home games Saturday at 7:05 p.m. against Quad City and at 3:05 p.m. Sunday against Rockford at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Against opponent's this week, Bloomington is 5-6-0 vs. Chicago and has lost four straight to the Hounds; 3-7-0 against Quad City and 3-9-0 against Rockford, including four straight.
