FLINT, Mich. - Flint scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the Bloomington PrairieThunder, 6-2, in International Hockey League action Sunday at Perani Arena.

John DiPace scored two of the Generals' goals as they improved their record to 7-14-1-1 (16 points) and move ahead of the PrairieThunder (7-12-0-0, 14 points) in the standings.

Steve Rymsha scored Flint's first goal with 14:28 remaining in the first period off an assist by Greg Bullock. DiPace scored the second goal nine minutes later on assists by Kyle Deck and Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn.

Zach Pearson put Flint ahead, 3-0, with 17:48 left in the second period off an assist by Josef Fojtik.

Bloomington got its first goal from rookie Jacob Anderson with 9:11 remaining in the second period from an assist by fellow rookie Jeff Rainville. However, the Generals answered 69 seconds later when DiPace scored on assists by Jon Jas and Versteeg-Lytwyn.

Greg Bullock got Flint's third goal of the second period on a break-away with winning goalie Chad Alban getting his first of two assists at the 1:21 mark.

The PrairieThunder closed the gap to 5-2 on Rainville's first goal with 9:41 left in the game off an assist by A.J. Bozoian. Fojtok then completed the scoring with a power play goal at the 3:49 mark off assists by Martin Ondrej.

Ryan Ludzik started in net for the PrairieThunder and stopped 21 of 26 shots in two periods. Scott Fankhouser played the third period and halted 11 of 12 shots. Alban had 36 of 38 saves.

Flint was successful on 1 of 3 power plays, while Bloomington was shut out on six attempts.
