Flint Generals News Release

FLINT, MI - For the first time since early on in the season the Flint Generals have won back to back games. John DiPace netted two goals and Chad Alban turned aside 36 of 38 shots as the Blue and Gold dumped the Bloomington Prairiethunder 6-2.

The victory moved the Generals ahead of Bloomington in the standings and it gave them four points on a four game home stand with one game to go next Thursday.

The game started 15 minutes late due to ice issues at Perani Arena and Event Center, but after that the Generals took over command of the game and raced out to a 2-0 advantage. Steve Rymsha scored from Greg Bullock with just over five minutes gone in the game and then John DiPace tallied from Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn and Kyle Deck. The play wasn't originally called a goal but after the puck had gone down to the other end of the ice for a stoppage in play, the referees conference and indicated that the goal was good.

In the second period, the Generals extended their lead to 3-0 when Zack Pearson scored from Josef Fojtik. After Bloomington scored to cut the deficit to within two, Flint fired two more markers to make it 5-1. First John DiPace notched his second on a deflection from Versteeg-Lytwyn and Martin Ondrej and then Greg Bullock scored on a breakway from Chad Alban.

Bloomington scored to start the third period to close the deficit to 5-2, but Flint netted the final market when Josef Fojtik scored on a wrist shot on the power play.

The Flint Generals and the Bloomington Prairiethunder each had 38 shots on goal and the Generals had the lone power play goal. The Generals have yet to surrender a goal on the power play in two straight games.
