Power Lose to Lightning After Poor Second Half

(London, ON - ) The Power took to the road to take on the London Lightning at the Budweiser Gardens. The Power sprinted off to a very strong first half but were overwhelmed by the Lightning in the second half of the game, losing 123-107. Omar Strong paced the Power with 23 points and six three pointers. Marcus Capers added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals while Antoine Hood chipped in with 16 points and 5 rebounds in his Power debut.

The Power came out of the gate quickly with a well balanced scoring attack seeing contributions from the entire starting lineup and the bench early on. Starting on a 13-5 run, the Power continued to roll as newcomer Antoine Hood knocked down a three pointer to take a 25-16 lead. The Power took a large 34-22 lead after one quarter.

In the second quarter, the Power continued to fire on all cylinders as Omar Strong knocked down five triples for the half and received balanced scoring from Donald Johnson, Jaushay Rockett and Alex Johnson. The Power held off a small Lightning run to take a 65-55 lead into the half.

At the start of the third, the Lightning surged off to a 10-0 run to quickly take the lead 3 minutes into the quarter, leading to a quick timeout from the Power. Despite the timeout, the Lightning continued to run and score on the Power, going on another 12-0 run and taking a 79-68 lead before the Power finally scored their first two points of the quarter. The Lightning outscored the Power 39-12 in the quarter en route to a 94-77 lead heading into the final quarter.

The Power tried to erase the deficit in the fourth quarter but the Lightning would hold off the Power and hold their lead to the victory. The Power fall to 5-4 with the loss while the Lightning improve to 7-5.

The Power return to the Hershey Centre on Saturday night at 7pm for a rematch as the two teams will battle for second place in the Central Division.
