Power Lose to Halifax After Poor Second Half

(Halifax, NS - ) The Power continued the east coast trip in Halifax this afternoon, heading to the Scotiabank Centre to take on the 17-12 Rainmen. The Power kept the game close at halftime but the Rainmen would control the second half for the 118-99 victory.

During the 1st quarter, the Power struggled with the size and defensive pressure from Halifax that resulted in the team committing 8 turnovers and giving up 68% from the field to the Rainmen. Former University of of Kansas standout, Kevin Young, was on fire, scoring 17 points against the Power as the Rainmen closed out the inaugural quarter 40-20.

The Power began the comeback attempt in the 2nd quarter, going on an 11-2 run including back to back three pointers from Omar Strong. The Power continued to score at a red hot pace during the second quarter that was capped off by two slam dunks by Marcus Capers and a strong performance by Malcolm Grant who chipped in 22 points at the half. The Power cut the Rainmen's lead to 62-55 at the end of the second quarter.

At the start of the 3rd quarter, The Power continued their momentum from the first half by converting three straight three pointers that helped slice the the Rainmen's lead to just two points. The Power's shooting went cold throughout the quarter that allowed the Rainmen to build up their lead to end the quarter leading 89-69.

The Rainmen seized control of the game and would not look back during the 4th quarter cruising to their 8th straight win with a 118-99 victory.
