New Britain Bees News Release

(York, PA) - The New Britain Bees (16-17, 49-47) defeated the York Revolution (16-18, 48-49) 4-3 at PEOPLEsBank Park on Wednesday evening to even up the three-game midweek series at a victory apiece.

New Britain starting pitcher Mark Hamburger (8-8) picked up the victory after allowing just two runs on five hits in six innings of work, walking three while striking out five and tossing a wild pitch, tallying his team-leading ninth quality start of the season. York starting pitcher Robert Carson (7-6) was tagged with the loss, surrendering four runs on ten hits (one home run) across seven innings pitched, walking one, striking out four, and throwing a wild pitch. Evan Scribner retired all three batters he faced in the home half of the ninth inning, striking out two for his 19th save of the campaign.

New Britain took a 3-0 lead versus Carson in the top half of the fourth inning, highlighted by an RBI infield single off the bat of Jason Rogers that scored Darren Ford after he led off the frame with a base knock of his own. Matt Tuiasosopo followed Rogers with a two-run base hit right back through the originator into centerfield, plating Rogers and Jamar Walton. Tuiasosopo was at it once again in the top of the sixth giving the Bees a much needed insurance run when he cracked a solo tater to left centerfield, his sixth big fly of the year, extending the visitors advantage to 4-0 as Tuiasosopo collected his 15th multi-hit game overall and fourth multi-RBI contest. Following the impressive outing by Hamburger, the bullpen trio of Brandon Cunniff, Adam Loewen, and Scribner gave up just one run on one hit across three innings on the bump, striking out four as the boys from the Hardware City improved to 15-14 in one-run ballgames. Ford, Rogers, and Tuiasosopo each had a pair of hits en route to the victory. Photo provided courtesy of Joe Doll.
