Portland Timbers and MLS Name Six Prospects to Represent the Club at the Sueño MLS 2016

PORTLAND (April 18, 2016) - Major League Soccer and the Portland Timbers announced today the names of five talented young field players and one El Portero Allstate finalist who will represent the club at the National Final of Sueño MLS 2016- Presented by Allstate Insurance Company. They will be joined by the six finalists selected last week at the LA Galaxy trials, and six more players to be selected this weekend at the New York Red Bulls trials.

The nationally-televised player search is showcased on Univision Deportes' Republica Deportiva, the popular weekly sports entertainment program that chronicles the tryouts in a "reality show within a show" format.

Celebrating its historic 10th year, Sueño MLS - Presented by Allstate Insurance Company will be staged by three Major League Soccer teams, including first-time host Portland Timbers, as well as returning hosts LA Galaxy and the New York Red Bulls. Up to 400 tryout spots will be made available in each city on a first come, first serve basis. Hopefuls can register at www.SuenoMLS.com.

In addition, the Allstate "Good Hands" top goalkeeper award, El Portero Allstate, will be presented for the sixth consecutive year. One goalkeeper at each of the three local tryouts will be selected as a local goalkeeper finalist and will compete in the National Finals for the opportunity to be named El Portero Allstate. El Portero Allstate finalists will be mentored by Mexican goalkeeping legend Adolfo Rios.
