Portland Chinooks to Play in China

Portland, OR September 6, 2011 - The Portland Chinooks of the International Basketball League (IBL) will be representing the United States in a competitive tournament featuring national team competitors from around the world, including Australia, Germany and host China.

Chinooks sponsor and United States Basketball Academy (USBA) partner travelling with the team Terry Emmert says, "we are bringing a competitive team to the tournament, and we look forward to showing great sportsmanship as we compete."

"We look forward to the competition," stated founder and owner of United States Basketball Academy, Bruce O'Neil, who organized the trip. "The USBA has a long relationship with the IBL that will continue to develop and this tournament is another example of the opportunity we continue to provide for top players to be seen in an emerging market," O'Neil added.

O'Neil is a recognized international leader providing innovative training and education to assist basketball players and coaches in reaching their fullest potential. Founded in 1993, the USBA, lead by the former University of Hawaii Head Basketball Coach, has developed and cultivated strong relationships with international basketball governing bodies and government officials, particularly in Asia and Europe including the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

The Portland Chinooks will be represented by quality athletes, who look forward to showcasing their talents potentiallially earning spots overseas as they compete in the tournament in Wujiang and Shanxi.

"We have a great and renewed partnership with Bruce O'Neil and the USBA, Terry Emmert and Terrance Dickens with the Chinooks, who have collaborated to put together a great team to represent the United States and the IBL this week," stated IBL Commissioner Sharleen Graf, adding, "The CBA is competitive environment, with gracious hosts and we appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the growth now and in the future."
