Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - Falcons winger Kris Porter scored the championship-winning goal in double overtime and now the stick he used to deliver Fresno's first Taylor Cup will be on its way to enshrinement in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Ontario.
The Hall of Fame has requested Porter's stick, gloves, helmet, and #47 jersey to be on display in the shrine honoring hockey's all-time greats. His equipment will initially be showcased as part of a year-long tribute to this season's championship teams at all levels of hockey. Thereafter, the gear will become part of the West Coast Hockey League's permanent display in the Hall's minor league wing.
Porter was named Taylor Cup Playoffs MVP as he led the league in scoring during the post-season with 18 points (6g-12a). In addition to his overtime-winner in Game Six of the Finals, he also scored an unassisted, game-winning tally in Game Two of the Idaho series. Including a team season-high 11-game point streak to end the regular season, Porter finished the championship run with points in 24 of the team's final 26 games (14g-18a-32pts).
Falcons season ticket packages for the upcoming 2002-02 campaign are already on sale beginning as low as $240. Contact the Falcons office for more information at 485-PUCK (7825).
