Porter Accepts Offer in France
February 21, 2011 - Premier Basketball League (PBL)
Halifax Rainmen News Release
This weekend Halifax Rainmen point guard, Tajuan Porter, accepted an offer to play professional basketball in France.
At only 5'7, Porter served as the back up point guard to Taliek Brown. To replace Porter, the Rainmen have signed 6'8 point guard, Trayvon Lathan.
Lathan played college basketball at Chowan University. After college, he played professionally in the NBA D League for the Utah Flash and in the International Basketball League for the Los Angeles Lightning, where he led the league in triple doubles.
"Trayvon is a guy we've been trying to sign for the last three years," said Halifax Rainmen President and CEO, Andre Levingston. "He's a very skilled and experienced player who gives us a lot of length at that position. We are very excited to finally have him as part of our organization."
Lathan will join the Rainmen for their upcoming weekend road games against the Saint John Mill Rats and the Quebec Kebs.
The Rainmen will return to the Metro Centre on Saturday, March 5. Tickets for the next home game can be purchased at any Ticket Atlantic location or at the Metro Centre Box Office. For group rate inquiries, please visit www.rainmenbasketball.ca.
