
Port Huron moves past PrairieThunder

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Ben Gustavson's power play goal with 12:53 remaining in the third period gave Port Huron a 4-3 United Hockey League victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder before 4,396 people Saturday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
The PrairieThunder skated to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Mike Zbriger and Jarad Bourassa. Zbriger's goal came 4:03 into the game off an assist from Justin Spencer. Buorassa's unassisted goal came three minutes later.
Port Huron's Philip Angell cut the PrairieThunder lead in half off assists from Jeremy Tucker and Robert Snowball with 11:34 left in the first period.
Bloomington's Tyler Rennette extended the home team's lead to 3-1 with six minutes remaining in the second period on an unassisted power play goal. Port Huron's Scott Wray closed the Flags' gap to 3-2 with a power play goal with 41 seconds left in the second period.
The Flags tied the game with 15:33 remaining in the third period on Mark Cadotte's score before Gustavson put home the game-winner. Port Huron goalie Dustin Traylen saved 32 of 35 shots, while PrairieThunder goalie Kris Tebbs made 31 saves on 35 shots.
The loss was the fourth straight for the PrairieThunder and all but eliminated the team from the playoffs. Bloomington, whose record dropped to 23-42-4, trails Port Huron for the final playoff berth by 13 points with only seven games remaining.
Bloomington returns to action Sunday at 1 p.m. at Muskegon.
