
Police, firefighters ready to battle at U.S. Cellular Coliseum

Members of the Bloomington and Normal police and fire departments are ready to battle in Guns N' Hoses flag football games Saturday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.
The Bloomington police will face their counterparts from the fire department from noon until 1:30 p.m. with the Normal police squaring off against the Normal firemen from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The games are prior to the Bloomington Extreme's 7:05 p.m. contest against Eastern Conference foe Sioux City in United Indoor Football action at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
Tickets for the flag football games are $5 with half the admission price donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Fans also can purchase a quarterback combo ticket for $15, which is good for admission to the flag football games and the Extreme game.
Tickets for all the games are available at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum box office, 101 S. Madison Street in Bloomington, or by contacting the Bloomington and Normal fire and police departments.
Fans attending the Guns N' Hoses games will only be allowed to enter the Coliseum through the VIP entrance on the south side of building, adjacent to the Pepsi Ice Center. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m.
Specialty jersey auction
The Extreme also will wear specially designed jerseys, depicting the Guns N' Hoses theme, during its game against Sioux City. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game with a portion of the proceeds going to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Fans wishing to participate in the jersey auction are asked to sit in section 101 following the game.
Dusty Burk appearance
Bloomington Extreme quarterback Dusty Burk will appear at the U.S. Cellular store in Parkway Plaza, near Wal-Mart, in Normal on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. to sign autographs and meet with fans.
Burk ranks second in the United Indoor Football League in total offense and passing and fifth in rushing per game. He has completed 149 of 256 passes for 1,698 yards and a 188.7 yards per game average to go along with 30 touchdowns and a 58.2 completion percentage.
In addition, Burk has rushed for 200 yards on 46 attempts for a 4.3 per carry average, a 22.2 yards per game mark and four touchdowns. He has gained 1,898 yards in total offense for a 210.9 yards per game average.
Extreme draw-string bags to first 3,000 fans
The first 3,000 fans through the doors at U.S. Cellular Coliseum for Saturday's Bloomington Extreme game will receive nylon Extreme draw-string bags, compliments of CM Promotions. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7:05 p.m. contest against Sioux City.
FanFest to be held in Club section
Because of the on-field post-game jersey auction Saturday, the FanFest activities will be moved to the Club area. Players will meet fans and sign autographs after their jerseys have been auctioned.
Fans can sign-up for Extreme bus trip at Saturday's game
Seats still remain for a bus trip to see the Extreme play May 31 against RiverCity at Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. Fans can sign-up for the event at Saturday's game at the Guest Services desk behind section 109.
Cost of the trip is $40 per person and includes a game ticket and non-alcoholic beverages. The sign-up deadline is May 23. Contract Bryan Bloodworth at 309-434-2691 for more information.
Fans are invited to bring their own food and beverages for the trip. The bus will depart from U.S. Cellular Coliseum at 3 p.m. and return immediately following the 7 p.m. United Indoor Football contest between the Eastern Conference rivals.
