Winston-Salem Polar Twins News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Winston-Salem Polar Twins head coach Bryan Wells announced today the addition of Curtis Bazylinski and Nathan Deobald to the 2004 training camp roster. The Polar Twins host the Jacksonville Barracudas on October 29 at 7:30pm at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum Annex.

In 2003-04, Bazylinski and Deobald were teammates with the Kindersly Klippers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), leading the team to their second SJHL championship.

"Curtis has strong leadership qualities that I was looking to add to the Polar Twins lineup. He was captain of his team in Kindersly and helped guide his team to the league championship. Also, Nathan is a durable goaltender who is capable of providing a strong backbone in goal," says Coach Wells of his new additions. "We look forward to having both players in camp."

In 2003-04, Bazylinski had 32 goals and 31 assists in 59 regular season games for Kindersly. He also added 6 goals and 15 assists for 21 points in 16 post-season games. In 2002-03, the 5-10, 210-pound winger played in 55 games for the Klippers, during which time he contributed 46 points (15 goals, 31 assists).

Deobald, a native of Battleford, Saskatchewan, played in 42 regular season games for Kindersly in 2003-04, posting a 25-12-3 record with a 3.11 goals against average (GAA) and two shutouts. In post-season action, he went 12-4 in 16 games and a 2.29 GAA. In 2002-03, Deobald was part of the Weyburn Red Wings, also of the SJHL, competing in 28 regular season games.

In addition to building his roster for the 2004-05 season, Coach Wells will also appear at the Polar Twins booth at the 122nd Annual Dixie Classic Fair. The fair runs October 1-10 and you will find the Twins' table just inside the main fairground entrance, three booths down on the right before the gazebo. Everyone is invited to stop by to learn more about the only professional hockey team in the Triad area as well as to enter to win great Polar Twins prizes, including season ticket packages and other team merchandise.
