Winston-Salem Polar Twins News Release
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - After two days of training camp, Polar Twins Head Coach Bryan Wells has pared his roster down from thirty to twenty-four players but there still is a lot of work to be done. Yesterday, Coach Wells cut eight from his initial camp roster but added two more to put him six players above the magic number of eighteen mandated by SPHL rules.
Deleted from the roster yesterday were Chad Wilson, John Munshaw, Emile Mansour, Lee Jenke, Justin Bodine, Cory Anderson, Otto Visvader, and Mark Loza. Added to the camp roster were Troy Ilijow and Rodney Bauman. Final cuts will be made Thursday.
Ilijow, a right wing from Thunder Bay, Ontario, spent last season with the Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, where he played in 38 games, recording 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists) and 36 penalty minutes (PIM). In 2002-03, Ilijow played in 40 games for the Charlottetown Abbies of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League, during which time he accumulated 46 points (18G, 28A) and 248 PIM.
Bauman, a left wing out of Elmira, Ontario, played four seasons with the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League. In 221 regular season games for the 67's, Bauman had 128 points, including a 45-point (17G, 28A) explosion in 2003-04.
