Winston-Salem Polar Twins News Release
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The smell of freshly resurfaced ice lingered in the air as the Winston-Salem Polar Twins held an information-packed press conference inside the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum Annex. The New Ice Age has certainly arrived in Winston-Salem as members of the Polar Twins training camp roster were introduced as part of the afternoon's festivities. The Polar Twins host the Jacksonville Barracudas on October 29 at 7:30pm at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum Annex. The first 2,000 fans through the doors receive a free team poster.
One of the biggest announcements of the day was the newly formed partnership between the Polar Twins and Winston-Salem Youth Hockey Association (WSYHA). R.J. Anderson of WSYHA spoke briefly at the conference, telling all in attendance of his high hopes for this joint venture to raise awareness of hockey in the Triad. As part of the Polar Twins partnership with WSYHA, each youth player has received a full season pass for access to all Polar Twins home games.
The Polar Twins also announced today their new partnership with Special Olympics. This season, the Polar Twins aim to spread awareness of the Special Olympics program while also helping the international organization raise money through special fundraiser nights and special event participation.
Polar Twins General Manager introduced the One Team One Goal Corporate Care Club for the first time in North Carolina. The program began in 1996 as a way for the children cities with professional hockey organizations to interact with professional athletes in their own home town. To date over 600,000 underprivileged youth have had the opportunity to participate in this program. The way the program works is that a specific section at LJVM will be designated as the Corporate Care Club Section at each Polar Twins home game. Tickets are supplied at no cost to a non-profit agency through a sponsoring organization in the Triad, with a different non-profit organization taking part each game.
The finale to the event featured a revealing ceremony, introducing the Polar Twins home and road jersey concepts for the upcoming season. The jersey concepts will be available soon in digital format and the official sweaters will make their debut on opening night, Friday, October 29th.
Join the Polar Twins this season for the only pro hockey in the Triad. Season and group ticket packages are on sale now for all of the exciting Polar Twins hockey action. For more information, please contact the Polar Twins' office at (336) 724-1011.
