Spokane Shock News Release
The Spokane Shock announced today that FB/DL Katon Bethay has re-signed with the team for the 2008 season. In other Shock news, former DL Jerome Stevens has signed an AFL contract with the Kansas City Brigade.
Bethay is the sixth member of the 2007 Western Division Championship roster to re-sign with the team and the second member of the 2006 ArenaCup Championship to rejoin the team. Last year, Bethay split time on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Defensively, Bethay accounted for three sacks - 12 total tackles - and two pass break-ups. As a full-back, Bethay was second on the team in rushing, averaging over 8 yards per carry and totaling 10 touchdowns.
"We still believe that Katon Bethay deserves an AFL opportunity," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "Although we still hope that he gets that opportunity, we are happy to have him back on our roster."
These feelings seem to be mutual for Bethay, who is happy to return to Spokane.
"I love the city, I love the fans, I love to go out there to a packed house every weekend," Bethay said. "It's just an overall fun experience."
Shackleford's roster now stands at 22 players. Season tickets for the 2008 season are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 509 242 7462.
