
Polanco Puzzles Hot Rods Bats in One Hit Shutout

(Bowling Green, KY)- Anderson Polanco earned the win after pitching five and one third shutout innings and the Captains won 3-0. Polanco (3-0) allowed one hit, and struck out six. Wander Beras did not allow a hit in two and two thirds shutout innings and he also fanned six. Carlos Melo pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his second save on the season and preserve the one hit shutout win.
Nellie Rodriguez blasted his 20th home run of the season to give the Captains the early 2-0 lead. Rodriguez's blast scored Paul Hendrix who singled, and the Captains led by a pair of runs after a half of an inning. In the top of the seventh inning, Mike Papi connected with his third homer of the season and the solo shot made it 3-0 Captains. The 3-0 score ended up being the final.
RHP German Marquez (4-6) started the game for the Hot Rods. Marquez twired five innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits. Marquez struck out seven. Marquez took the loss. Bowling green used two pitchers to finish off the ballgame.
Lake County will continue a six-game road trip on Wednesday. The Captains will play the finale of a three-game series with Bowling Green. Lake County will give the ball to RHP Dace Kime (6-13, 5.09) and the Hot Rods will counter with LHP Ben Griset (2-6, 4.24). First Pitch will be at 8:05 PM from Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, KY.
