Pohle Pulls It Out

The Flyers edged the Silver Sox 6-5 in a heated contest in Reno. The Flyers cranked three homeruns in the contest, including back-to-back solo shots in the 1st inning by Garry Templeton II and Rich Pohle.

The game was tied at 4-4 when Gabriel Mayorga led off with a single in the 9th inning. With runners at first and second, Rich Pohle drove a double to left-center field to give Fullerton a 6-4 lead.

Tempers flared after Pohle's double when Schneider drilled Peanut Williams in the back with a first pitch fastball and first base open.

Wes Faust gave up an RBI double to Marcus Jensen in the bottom of the 9th inning. But Faust recorded his first save of the season when he got Edgar Varela to ground out to end the game.

The Flyers tied the game at 4-4 in the 7th inning off another star Reno reliever Nate Sevier. Sevier has not allowed a run to any GBL team except Fullerton this season. Bret Levier knocked in Gabriel Mayorga with a bloop single.

Jeff Groeger pitched two and a third solid innings of relief to get the win.

Chad Chop hit his team leading sixth homerun in the 4th inning.

Game two of the four-game series is tomorrow night at 6:35. Matt Lincoln will get his first start of the season.
