PORT HURON, MI- The Port Huron Beacons beloved mascot, Captain Breaker and current player Casey Harris will appearing at the "Big Bologna Parade" at this years Yale Bologna Festival in Yale, Michigan this Saturday the 24th.
The festival is celebrating its 16th anniversary and takes in over 10,000 spectators in the three-day event, in a town in which 2,000 people reside. The festivities begin on Friday the 23rd with sidewalk sales, craft shows, music, Outhouse races and to top the evening off, the Royal Crowning of the Bologna King and Queen.
On Saturday the day starts off with a one-mile fun run/walk and 5k race. However the highlight of the days events is the Big Bologna Parade. The parade starts at the High School at approximately 6 p.m. and runs down Main Street before ending back at the High School.
This year the Yale Chamber of Commerce is expecting over 120 parade entries to join in the festivities. As of today they have 80 confirmed entries but that number is sure to grow in the next few days leading up to the festivities.
Sunday is the final day of fun for the 16th anniversary edition. It ends with a car and bike show, which runs all day and the Great Bologna Cardboard Boat races.
