Playoff Tailgate Fundraiser Plans Confirmed
April 11, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, MB. - 94.7 Star FM, Q Country, Heritage Co-op and the Brandon Wheat Kings will be hosting a special pre-game Tailgate Fundraiser before tonight's Western Hockey League playoff game against the visiting Letbhridge Hurricanes.
All profits from the barbecue, which will be held in the Heritage Co-op parking lot from 4-6:30pm, will be donated directly to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Humboldt Broncos.
The Wheat Kings will be hoping to even up the Eastern Conference Semi-Final tonight after scoring a 5-4 victory over the 'Canes in game three Tuesday night.
Tonight's game is a 7pm start at Westoba Place.
While Heritage Co-op will be donating the food for tonight's barbecue to all fans in attendance at the Tailgate Party, staff members from both 94.7 Star FM and Q Country radio will be collecting $5 donations for each meal provided.
As well, fans attending the tailgate party will have the opportunity to sign a special banner provided by Leech Printing that will be sent to the Broncos, their fans and the City of Humboldt.
This marks the second day of playoff fundraising for the Broncos' that lost fifteen members of the organization in last Friday's tragic bus accident north of Tisdale, Saskatchewan.
During Tuesday's game, close to $7,000 was raised in a game worn jersey raffle and #HumboldtStrong t-shirt sales. The jersey featured the BRONCOS name bar on the back and the tees were generously donated by Brandon Source for Sports.
As for tonight, volunteers from Westoba Credit Union will be hosting a special Chuck-a-Puck during the second intermission.
Fans are encouraged to purchase a $5 sponge puck for a chance to win a Wheat Kings' replica jersey.
Westoba Credit Union has announced plans to donate an additional $1 for each puck sold.
Proceeds from tonight's Chuck-a-Puck will be donated directly to the Broncos.
A lot of good seats remain for game four tonight. To order, fans can visit the Keystone Centre box office, call (204) 726-3555 or go online to www.keystonecentre.com
Game three Tuesday night attracted a crowd of over 3,700 fans to Westoba Place.
Following the game, both teams will travel to Lethbridge for game five Friday night. Should a sixth game in the best of seven series be necessary, it will be played Sunday afternoon in Brandon.
