TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (7-4) and Utah Grizzlies (5-5) play the fifth match of their best-of-seven Pacific Division Finals series, and the final Reign game in ECHL play at Maverik Center. The winner of this series will face the winner of the Central Division Finals (Allen Americans vs. Rapid City Rush) in the Western Conference Finals. Ontario finished 6-3-1-1 against Utah during the 2014-15 regular season, winning the final meeting by a score of 5-0. This is the second time in postseason history that the Reign and Grizzlies have faced each other; Ontario previously swept the Grizzlies four games to none in 2013. Ontario picked up its second road win of the postseason on Friday night in Game 4.
NUNN LEADING THE WAY:
Despite losing linemates David Rutherford and Judd Blackwater over the last three games, Garry Nunn has been instrumental in Ontario's two wins in that span. The forward has surged towards the top of the Kelly Cup Playoffs scoring race, potting three goals and three assists to bring his totals to 13 points (5g-8a) in 11 games.
POWER PLAY SURGES FOR REIGN:
After going scoreless with the man advantage in Game 3, Ontario recovered nicely in Game 4, potting three goals on six chances, pushing Ontario to a 24.1% conversion rate throughout the entire postseason, good for second among all postseason clubs. Tristan King, Matt White and Matt Register are tied with six other skaters for first place in power-play goals (3); King also leads all skaters in postseason power-play points with seven (3g-4a).
REGISTER LEADING BLUELINERS:
Defenseman Matt Register leads all ECHL blueliners in postseason points (13), and is tied for third among all skaters in the same category. The third-year Reign defenseman is also first in goals by a rearguard (5).
