New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

RICHMOND, VA - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) couldn't maintain a one-run advantage Saturday night at The Diamond, as the Richmond Flying Squirrels (Giants) managed to take down the league-best 'Cats 5-2. Despite the loss, New Hampshire remains firmly entrenched at the top of the Eastern Division standings as they quest for their fourth playoff berth in the franchise's 15 season history.

For the second consecutive night, the 'Cats struck first. Back-to-back singles from Harold Ramirez and Cavan Biggio started the fourth, which set up an RBI groundout for Max Pentecost to put New Hampshire up 1-0.

It was virtually all Richmond from there. The Flying Squirrels scored two in the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth to lead 5-1, and despite a run in the ninth for the 'Cats New Hampshire fell 5-2.

Six of nine Fisher Cats started recorded a hit in the game.

The rubber match is set for tomorrow afternoon at The Diamond. RHP Jon Harris will go for New Hampshire while RHP Mike Connolly is set to start for the Flying Squirrels. Coverage begins at 12:45 p.m. with the Fisher Cats Pregame Show and continues with first pitch at 1:05 p.m. on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.

The next home game will be Tuesday, August 14 when New Hampshire will play host to Altoona (Pittsburgh Pirates Double-A). For tickets and information, visit nhfishercats.com or call (603) 641-2005.
