Playoff Game Tonight at Goss

Your Corvallis Knights host Bend tonight at Goss Stadium in game two of the hometown team's first-round playoff series with the Elks. First pitch is 6:40 pm. Gates open at 6 pm. Get your tickets online or at the gate. Reserved seats are $10 and GA $6. If game three is necessary, it will be held at Goss Stadium on Thursday, August 14.

Corvallis won game one last night in Bend, 2-1. Third baseman Jackson Soto of West Albany High drove in the game-winner with a RBI single in the 8th inning. Reliever Chris Bishop got the win as the senior-to-be right-hander at PLU pitched four scoreless innings of relief. (read more)

Tonight's probable starters are Chris Haddeland of Linfield for Corvallis and Kevin Hamann for Bend.

Melk Man does it; Knights lead the league

Knights' outfielder Grant Melker of San Diego broke the WCL record for steals in a single-season this past Sunday in the Knights' regular-season finale at Medford. Melker led the WCL in stolen bases with 29 and also led the league in runs scored with 41. Dalton Kelly of UC Santa Barbara finished the regular season with the Knights best batting average at .336. First baseman Kevin Kline of Dixie State led the club in HR with 8 and RBIs with 45. Pitcher Jackson Lockwood of Portland tied for the league lead in wins with 8. Closer Brandon Choate of Washington finished with a team-high 9 saves. Angel Landazuri of UC Riverside posted the team's lowest ERA at 2.43. Melker led the league in outfield assists with 9. Michael Lucarelli of Portland led all WCL shortstops in assists with 162. Marc Gallegos of Corban led the league in assists at second base with 137. Jackson Soto led all WCL third basemen in field percentage at .946.
