Playoff destiny in Silverbacks' own hands

August 29, 2006 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Atlanta Silverbacks News Release

The Atlanta Silverbacks hold their 2006 playoff fate in their own hands despite last weekend's disappointing losses to Miami FC. Atlanta can guarantee themselves a spot in the post-season by winning out their four remaining games of the 2006 regular season. This final push to make playoffs will begin this Saturday, September 2 at 7:30 pm against the USL second-place Rochester Raging Rhinos. Saturday night's match at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium will conclude the Silverbacks' 2006 regular season home games. Since the stadium's grand opening on June 3, the 'Backs have earned a 7-3-3 home record in which they have outscored their opponents 24-16. Atlanta's successful home season has kept the team in playoff contention, but the Silverbacks will need to focus and finish the season strong to continue into post-season play. Atlanta currently sits in 7th place, just two points behind Seattle and three points behind Miami; the Silverbacks have a game-in-hand over both teams.

Tickets for Saturday night's game are available, however, after midnight Friday night remaining tickets will only be available through the online "print-at-home" option. Tickets will also be available at the stadium box office starting at 5:00 pm on Saturday. Please purchase your tickets early! If you have a party of 20 or more people coming out to see the game, call the ticket office to learn about group rates. Upper level parking opens at 5:30 pm and the stadium gates open at 6:00 pm. For more information call 1-866-GO-BACKS or visit www.atlantasilverbacks.com. Due to the high demand for tickets in recent weeks, we recommend purchasing tickets early and we ask for your patience when calling or going online to purchase tickets - if we are unable to take your call, a representative will get back to you as soon as possible.

SPECIAL CELEBRATION FOR LAST HOME GAME

In a show of appreciation to fans and in commemoration of the first season at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium, the Silverbacks have planned an exciting evening with much more than just a great soccer match. The first 500 fans through the gate will receive 2006 Silverbacks team cards. D.J. Grayson, a talented young musician, will sing the national anthem before the start of the match. For the past five years, the 13-year-old singer/songwriter has been performing at summer bashes, A-list parties, and most recently had a marquis performance at Atlantic Station. The Silverbacks will also put on a spectacular fireworks display above the stadium following the match. With playoffs on the line, the Silverbacks will battle for the win and fans will get to see a great game.
