Pittsnogle erupts for 44 as Xplosion rout Minot, 129-105

MINOT, ND, January 10, 2007 - Kevin Pittsnogle exploded for a career and Continental Basketball Association season-high 44 points to power the Pittsburgh Xplosion (2-15) to a 129-105 victory over the Minot Sky Rockets (8-10) at the Minot Municipal Auditorium. The win snapped a five-game skid for the Black and Gold, which also received 18 points from Marc Williams and 16 from Shawn Hawkins.

Pittsnogle, the West Virginia alum, was virtually unstoppable connecting on 14-19 field goal attempts, including 5-8 three-pointers, and 11-13 from the free throw line.

Playing its most complete game of the season, the Xplosion jumped on the Sky Rockets winning the opening quarter 31-22. The Black and Gold then extended its lead by capturing the second quarter, 38-25, and led at intermission by 22 points, 69-47. Pittsburgh also won the third quarter, Minot took the final stanza, as the Xplosion captured six of seven quarter points.

Andre Joseph added 15 points for Pittsburgh and Janerio Spurlock also reached double figures with 12 points. Isaac Jefferson snagged a game-high 12 rebounds. Willie Mitchell finished with 33 points for Minot.

The Xplosion and Sky Rockets face off again on Thursday evening in Minot.
