Pittsfield Suns Out Shine Dawgs After Delay

Wachusett Dirt Dawgs News Release
LEOMINSTER, MASS - The Pittsfield Suns almost doubled up the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs 17-9 on July 10th. After an hour and 10 minute rain delay the game began but the field was not in the greatest shape in any means.
Dirt Dawgs starting pitcher Joey Gaouette (College of William and Mary) started out strong by sending the Suns down 1-2-3 in the first two innings, before things got real interesting in the 3rd. It started out with a bad toss by Josh Raymond (Judson University) at first base to Gaouette who was covering first base, then was proceed by 4 straight walks to Suns hitters. That was all for Gaouette saw in the game before he was replaced by David Montiverti (Dowling College) who finished off the inning with allowing 6 runs on 2 hits.
At the same time the Dirt Dawgs bats were on fire, they started the first inning off with a homerun by Austin Sistrunk (Lipscomb University) and Jamill Mouquete (UMass Boston). The Dirt Dawgs would continue to show some power when Joe Coyne (St. Joseph's of Maine) rockets a triple to right center in the bottom of the second. The Wachusett Baseball Club added 2 more homeruns in the rest of the game, one by Josh Raymond in the bottom of the 4th which was a 2 run shot, and Austin Mock (IUP) went deep in the bottom of the 7th. The scoring would slow down up until the 8th inning where Pittsfield sent 13 batters to the plate and scored 8 times on 4 hits, and 3 errors by the Dirt Dawgs fielders.
The winning pitcher for the Suns would be Mike Geannelis (UMass Amherst) who went 4.2 innings pitched while giving up 4 runs, walking two and striking out 4. The loss goes to Rob Bertucci (MIT) who went 0.2 innings and gave up 8 runs.
The Dirt Dawgs are on the road again following this game they head to the North Shore to face the Navigators. They are back at home following that one game away, and return to action at Historic Doyle Field on Friday July 12th against the Nashua Silver Knights.
