PITTSBURGH, March 23, 2007 - Dajuan Tate scored a season-high 28 points and Shawn Hawkins notched a double-double as Pittsburgh (10-37) closed out the home portion of its schedule, but Minot (31-17) took command early and coasted to a 119-106 victory in Continental Basketball Association action at Mellon Arena.
The Skyrockets seized control of the contest with 9-0 run midway through the opening quarter to build a 10-point lead, 19-9. They would go on to earn the first quarter point, 32-21.
The Black and Gold would draw within seven points in a tightly played second quarter, but Minot closed the half on a 5-0 spurt to steal the quarter, 24-22, and claim a 56-43 lead at intermission.
Minot would extend its lead to 20 points after three quarters, 89-69, after winning the frame, 33-26. Pittsburgh salvaged teh final quarter point, 37-30.
Tate shot 9-19 from the field and 9-13 from the free throw line to net his game and season-high 27 points. Hawkins added 22 points and grabbed 10 boards. Corey Minnifield netted 21 points and grabbed nine caroms.
Minot finished with six players in double figures led by David Harrison's 20 points.
The game was preceded by a special exhibition between the Steelers Basketball team and a squad of local celebrities that also featured former heavyweight boxing champion Roy Jones, Jr.
