Erie Explosion News Release

(Belle Vernon, PA) - The Pittsburgh RiverRats of the AIFA continued to solidify their defense with the announcement of the re-signing of AIFA All-Star linebacker T.J. Carden to a contract for the upcoming 2008 season.

Carden (6'2"-240) appeared in 12 games in his first season with the RiverRats and recorded a team-leading 41.5 tackles, including six for losses, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries, returning one fumble for a touchdown. He was selected by the league's coaches to the AIFA North All-Star squad. Carden made his presence felt at the All-Star game in Florence, SC, with a forced fumble and recovery. A native of Monongahela, PA, he was an All-Quad West Conference performer at Ringgold High School, and played collegiately at California University of PA.

"T.J. was clearly our most consistent playmaker on defense. We got much tougher as soon as he joined us in week three. He's got a great motor, doesn't take plays off, and he's a devastating hitter. Between T.J. Carden and Roosevelt Benjamin, who we signed last week, we're now the only team with AIFA All-Stars at both linebacker spots, which has our defensive coaches pumped." commented Head Coach Shawn Liotta.

Season and individual game tickets for the Pittsburgh RiverRats 2008 season go on sale next week and can be purchased at the team's website.
