
Pittsburgh Re-Signs Alain Nasreddine

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed defenseman Alain Nasreddine, it was announced today by Assistant General Manager Chuck Fletcher.
Nasreddine, 32, split last season between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) and Pittsburgh (NHL), recording eight points (3+5) and 25 penalty minutes in 19 games with the AHL club and five points (1+4) and 18 penalty minutes in 44 games with Pittsburgh.
A 12-year veteran, Nasreddine set new NHL single season highs for games (44), goals (1), assists (4), points (5) and plus-minus (plus-12) last season. He recorded his first career NHL goal and point on December 16 in Montreal, and finished the year second on Pittsburgh in plus-minus.
The 6-1, 210 pound native of Montreal has spent parts of four seasons with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording 40 points (7+33) and 241 penalty minutes in 182 games. Nasreddine also served as team captain from 2004-2007.
The Florida Panthers' sixth round draft choice (135th overall) in the 1993 Entry Draft has recorded five points (1+4) and 80 penalty minutes in 68 career NHL games with the Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders and Penguins.
Nasreddine has appeared in 659 career AHL contests with Carolina, Portland, Fredericton, Quebec, Hamilton, Bridgeport and the Penguins, recording 121 points (23+98) and 1,331 penalty minutes. He also spent parts of two seasons with Indianapolis of the International Hockey League, recording 15 points (1+14) and 506 penalty minutes in 124 games.
