Walla Walla Sweets News Release

Bremerton, WASH - The Walla Walla Sweets (9-8) improved their winning streak to three games with a 2-1 win over the Kitsap BlueJackets (6-11) on Wednesday.

The Sweets got out in front early on a sacrifice fly by Willie MacIver (Washington) in the first inning. It was the returner's first RBI of the season.

Walla Walla then added another run in the third when a relay throw got away from the BlueJacket's catcher, allowing Ryan Johnston (UC Irvine) to score from third. That made it 2-0.

Kitsap found the scoreboard for the first time in the series in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Tony Ortiz (Arkansas State).

Easton Lucas (Pepperdine) was dominant through his seven innings of work. He gave up just the one run on two hits and struck out three. Justin Bruihl picked up the six out save in the win. He still has not allowed a run in five and a third innings pitched.

The Sweets will send Jackson Weeg to the hill in Thurday's game to try for the series sweep over the Kitsap at 6:35 P.M.
