Burlington Bees News Release

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, parent club of the Burlington Bees, have announced their 2015 Opening Day rosters for their minor league affiliates, including the Burlington Bees.

Pitching will once again highlight the Bees' roster with the return of Angels' first round pick from 2014, Sean Newcomb, and the addition of 2014 draft picks, Jeremy Rhoades (4th Round), and Jake Jewell (5th Round). Third round draft pick from 2013, Keynan Middleton, will start the season in Burlington after spending the previous two seasons with the Orem Owlz of the Pioneer League. Reliever Ronnie Muck will also return to Bees after finishing last season in Burlington.

Offensively, the Bees will see the return of infielders' Erick Salcedo and Zach Houchins. Salcedo appeared in 128 games for the Bees last season, hitting .239 and stole 21 bases in 31 attempts. Houchins, a 13th round draft pick in 2014, joined the Bees in August and played in 36 games as the teams starting third baseman. Outfielder Exicardo Cayones returns to the Burlington Bees after splitting the 2014 season between Burlington and Inland Empire.

Eight of the nine position players, assigned to the Bees' roster this season, spent time with the Orem Owlz of the Pioneer League last season. Natanael Delgado, ranked as the 27th prospect in the Angels system according to Baseball America, will be the youngest Bees player this season at age 19. Delgado hit .301 for the Owlz last season. Joining Delgado will be infielder Andrew Daniel. Daniel, an 11th round draft pick last year, ranked fifth in the Pioneer League with a .340 batting average.

The Bees have a local product on the roster for the 2015 season with infielder and Des Moines native, Jake Yacinich. Yacinich played at the University of Iowa and was drafted in the eighth round by the Angels in 2014 draft.

The Burlington Bees open the 2015 season on Thursday, April 9th against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at 6:30 at Community Field. Tickets are available online at Gobees.com or at the Bees office. For more information contact the Burlington Bees at (319) 754-5705.
