The Bruins notched another goal, their first power play goal of the season, at 18:32 scored by Alexander Khokhlachev and assisted by Craig Cunningham and Zach Trotman.
The Pirates rally attempt started at 6:52 in the second period with a goal from the captain, Alex Bolduc. Jordan Martinook and Henrik Samuelsson were both credited with assists. The Pirates continued their comeback attempt into the third period but were ultimately unsuccessful. With a penalty called on Bolduc with 2:05 left to play, Domingue was called to the bench to even out the number of skaters on the ice. Providence's Seth Griffith took advantage of the empty net and scored assisted by Matt Lindblad with 12 seconds left on the clock, locking up the win for the Bruins.
Domingue got his first start of the young season, letting in two goals and saving 37. Jeremy Smith (1-1-0) was in net for the Bruins and saved 27, allowing one goal.
The next game for the Pirates will be on Friday, October 24, when they travel to Manchester to play the Monarchs for the first game of the VIP Cup series presented by VIP Tires and Service. They return home the next night on the 25th where they will take on the Syracuse Crunch at the Cross Insurance Arena.
