Portland, ME ¬" The Portland Pirates stormed out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and held on the rest of the way to post a 3-2 victory over the Connecticut Whale in Game One of the American Hockey League Divisional Semifinals played tonight in front of 2,171 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
Luke Adam, Corey Tropp, and Colin Stuart all scored for the Pirates as they snapped an eight-game postseason losing streak dating back to the 2008-09 playoffs. Mark Voakes contributed two assists on the night in helping Portland jump out to a 1-0 series lead.
Blake Parlett and Dale Weise each netted goals for the Whale in a comeback effort that fell short.
