Orlando Pirates News Release
ORLANDO, FL - The Orlando Pirates of the Indoor Football League have signed defensive lineman Octavious Oxendine for the 2026 season. Kentucky's former No. 13 overall recruit had a successful collegiate career with the Wildcats before joining the Canadian Football League.
Despite going undrafted, Oxendine found a new home with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The Radcliff, KY, native started 47 career games in college that helped take his talents to the next level.
Oxendine was a one-man wrecking crew with 78 total tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, nine quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, and even a blocked kick.
The 6'2'' 285-pound DL was named SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week on October 11, 2021. A few years later, he broke through and won SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week on September 30, 2024.
While he didn't win any major awards, Oxendine was on the Comeback Player of the Year Watch List in 2022 and was on the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List the following year. Oxendine was a Top 100 defensive lineman coming out of high school as he chose Kentucky over the likes of Tennessee, Ole Miss, Penn State, and Texas.
Even though things didn't work out in the CFL, Oxendine is ready to make a name for himself in the IFL. This will be his first taste of indoor football action as the soon to be 24-year-old joins Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator Rob Keefe's stacked defense.
